CST! CST! CST!

CST or Central Scotland Thrash is a close knit scene based around, surprisingly enough, central Scotland's thrash bands, however it's a state of mind more than a location so no one is excluded from getting involved.
Here's a run down of some of the bands involved, this isn't an exhaustive list but rather the bands I've managed to catch live so far.
Check out the bands and pick up some stuff from the bandcamp links if you like what you hear.

Daniel Wax Off

DWO were the first CST band I saw a few years back before CST was a thing, they played with Crippled Fox in The Banshee, Edinburgh and I immediately loved them, fast crossover thrash riffing and loads of jumps.

Disposable

Disposable were the next lot I caught a month or so later, nestled in between Daniel Wax Off and DRI at Bannermans in Edinburgh, I was impressed by these guys' stage presence as well as their punchy riffing with overtones of death metal mixed in to the blend of thrash. I've seen them a fair few times now and they always generate loads of energy on stage, Jack, Billy and Oli seem to be everywhere all at once, very infectious, and when not playing they're down the front supporting other bands too (or cameoing for them.) They recently celebrated 10 years together which was anabsolute belter of a gig.

Ifreann

I'd seen their name about for a while but never managed to see them until they came up to Perth as part of a mini Scottish tour, that was too close to pass up so I jumped in the car and headed through to the Twa Tams to check them out and I wasn't dissapointed. Old school thrash with twin leads and some major headbanging action. Hints of Testament and some early Metallica style riffage abounds. Seen them another couple of times since, fucking solid.

Sundrown

These guys from Glasgow also played with Ifreann in Perth and were slower, less thrash and more groove heaviness.

Fatal Collision

Only seen these Glaswegians once so far, at Monty's in Dunfermline for what was a veritable CST fest of an all dayer but definitely want to catch them again. High energy crossover punky thrash.

Black Talon

Another band I've just caught once so far, at the Disposable 10 year show. Quite entertaining to watch and struck me as mid 80's bay area style thrash with a bit of NWOBHM thrown in.

Catalysis

Local Dundee thrashers Catalysis hit hard with a heavy leaning to death metal in their sound, seen them at a few gigs now and they've been on fire each time.

Unjustice

Played at the Monty's all dayer, total 80s Metallica worship.

HXHDRN

Hailing from Kirkcaldy these guys are CST adjacent, not thrash more blackened crust death metal or something. Wasn't sold on them the first time I saw them but enjoyed them more the second time around.

Tempered

These guys are fast and vicious sounding and I've seen them once, kinda, after shooting through to the Shredinburgh all dayer after work and just catching the last song of their set, be looking to catch them properly as soon as possible though.

Thrashist Regime

Had these Aberdonians stuff for quite a while but kept missing them due to work/money so was chuffed to catch their manic thrash attack at Shredinburgh, BOOM Headshot!

Kingpin

I was aware of Kingpin's existence in the Glasgow hardcore scene (even got their 7") but never seen them due to their tendency to be on beatdown karate pit bills and I can't be arsed with that sort of hoo ha. However I've now caught them a fair amount at CST or hardcore punk gigs in the last six months so making up for it now. Heavy crossover hardcore but still with some straight up fast thrash riffage thrown in for good measure.

Dog Tired

These guys have been around for a while, a riff heavy groove thrash hybrid with four albums to their name so far.
